I spent 20 years closed off in my house. I did not believe that I could learn something new, I was especially afraid of computers. Today I can already do my own research and work on my computer independently. This experience was great for me; I notice and so do people around me how much my self-confidence I raised and how much I enjoy life these days.
Now I have better understanding of my parents and my relationship with them improved. I used to be tied in knots thinking about my family, without knowing how to fix it or improve my situation. Thanks to this workshop I found solutions, what to do and how to understand myself, especially, better. I feel less guilty for certain events in my life and lives of my loved ones. I stand up for myself much more, I take my inner child much more seriously and I now understand the importance of self-care.
It is very important for me that I got an opportunity to learn how to prepare and present myself at a job interview. I never had this opportunity before and I do believe that it is very important for us unemployed women. One day when I find employment I think that knowledge that I gained at the education will be beneficial for my communication abilities and meeting leading.
I grew up in a very patriarchal family where certain rules are followed and where I as a woman do not have rights that I believe I should have. Often, I do not even have the right to express my opinion on something. On those occasions when I would sometimes react in a way that is not in accordance with our family rules, I would be shushed by other, older women. After I became aware at this workshop that I am responsible for my own emotions and needs, and now that I know that I am not threatening anyone else, I got the strength and the will to start fighting for myself more. By following my feelings, I am certain that I can finally do something good for myself. I am fighting for myself, for my rights for my I!
I am now changing my approach to organization and fulfillment of short term goals, I take care and seek balance in setting boundaries, and I work on improving children’s potentials through rules I learned at the workshop.
As a man I came to the gender equality workshop ready to be attacked and ready to take part in heated discussions, however, once at the workshop I could not help but agree with everything that was said and I found that I did not need to defend myself or entire male sex.
I became aware that sexual abuse is present all around us, of the magnitude of the issue and how complex personal consequences are. Now I have more courage to handle this topic as a professional. Signs and symptoms that I look for in my clients have expanded because now I can take into consideration some specific symptoms of sexual abuse. Theory that I learned here I already shared with my colleagues even thought I think that it would be good for all of them to attend this workshop.
